I’m Gabe Garza with today’s health news. There may be a lot more to psoriasis than what’s on the surface. Researchers found that patients with psoriasis were often at an increased risk of depression. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that typically affects the skin. Although scaly, silverywhite patches known as plaques are the most common symptom of psoriasis, the condition can also affect the joints. Researchers looked at past surveys and found that almost 17 percent of patients with psoriasis in the surveys, met criteria for major depression. Make sure to speak with your doctor about any condition you may have.
